This Date In Royals History–1969 Edition: March 29

Joe Foy had a tremendous day, with three hits and three RBIs, leading the Royals to a 4-1 win over Minnesota in Fort Myers.

Foy staked his claim to the Royals’ third-base spot with his big day. He drove in two runs in the first inning with a single, hit a solo home run in the third, and doubled and scored on a Jim Campanis single in the fifth. All of Foy’s hits came off Twins starter Jim Kaat.

Chuck Harrison added two hits for Kansas City, with five other Royals collecting one hit each on the day.

Dave Morehead benefited from Foy’s big day, although he had a nice afternoon himself. Morehead held the Minnesota lineup to three hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out five.
