The second game of the Royals’ home series against California was rained out. It was scheduled to be made up when the Angels returned to Kansas City in early July.

The Royals did make a personnel move, as they activated pitcher Jim Rooker from the disabled list and optioned outfielder George Spriggs to Omaha. Rooker was the Royals’ sixth pick in the expansion draft and had been left in Florida when spring training ended to work out some shoulder stiffness.
