The rescheduled All-Star Game, postponed a day by storms in Washington, DC, was played on the Wednesday afternoon of the All-Star break. The National League prevailed 9-3 in what is still the last All-Star Game to be played before prime time on the East Coast. Willie McCovey won the game’s MVP award by hitting two home runs, including a two-run shot in the NL’s five-run third inning.

As for the Royals, their only representative, catcher Ellie Rodriguez, did not appear in the game.
