The Royals improved to 2-0 in spring training as they thumped the Texas Rangers, 10-3, in Pompano Beach.

Kansas City picked up 14 hits, including home runs by Al Cowens and Pete LaCock. Cowens’ blast broke a 1-1 tie in the third. The three-run bomb gave the Royals the lead for good. LaCock belted a two-run home run in the ninth to cap the scoring.

Dennis Leonard allowed one run in three innings, pitching well in his first start of the spring. Dave May homered for Texas in the first inning, but that was all the Rangers could muster until two runs in the ninth inning.
